Saudi by Abdulaziz: Not Just Fast – The Saudi Stig Is Fueling a Motorsport Movement

Saudi Arabia’s motorsport scene is shifting gears fast, and leading that charge is none other than the widely recognized Saudi Stig. Racer, commentator, and full-time speed enthusiast, he has become a familiar face in the Kingdom’s growing passion for wheels,  whether tearing through the desert or hugging corners on city circuits.

We sat down with him to talk about the evolution of the scene, where it’s heading next, and why Saudi Arabia is becoming a destination for motorsport fans and talent from around the world.

How did you first get into racing?

Some say Saudi Arabia moves slowly, but I’ve been racing flat out from the start. My journey into motorsport came from a love for speed and anything with wheels, two or four. Whether on the city streets or in the dunes, if it had wheels, I was chasing the finish line.

What’s your role in the Saudi motorsport scene today?

I get to enjoy it from every angle, as a racer, a commentator, and a fan. That triple role gives me a unique view of the energy that’s building here. It’s a thrill to be part of something that’s accelerating so quickly.

What’s been your proudest achievement so far?

Being known as the Saudi Stig and helping showcase the power, pace, and potential of motorsport in the Kingdom is something I’m proud of. For me, it’s about more than racing, it’s about inspiring the next wave of young Saudi drivers.

How would you describe the racing scene in Saudi?

It’s bold, fast, and rapidly-evolving. From karting and motorbikes to electric vehicles and Formula One, we’ve got something happening across the entire Kingdom. We’re not just joining the global motorsport conversation, we’re helping lead it.

What makes the Saudi racing environment unique?

It’s the landscape. Where else can you go from a desert rally to a city street circuit in the same season? The variety here pushes drivers and vehicles to their limits, and the fans are some of the most passionate I’ve seen.

Is there a defined racing season?

There is, and it’s growing. From night races like Formula E to off-road challenges and national karting championships, there’s always something on the calendar.

How does the climate and terrain shape racing here?

It adds a whole new layer of challenge, and excitement. You’ve got heat, sand, elevation changes… it demands more from the driver and the machine.

What’s changed most since you started?

The scale. We’ve gone from grassroots tracks to hosting global events like Formula One. And with Qiddiya’s purpose-built circuit coming soon, we’re just getting started.

Who should fans watch out for—any rising stars or major events?

Look out for the Saudi national karting and motorcycle circuits. That’s where future champions are being forged. And of course, don’t miss F1 in Jeddah or the future Qiddiya track, it’ll be a game changer.

Where do you see Saudi motorsport in 5–10 years?

We’re coming up fast. More international events, more Saudi drivers in global series, more fans. The infrastructure is being built, and the momentum is real. Just look at the first Formula One race in Jeddah—at night, under the lights, with the Red Sea breeze, it was unforgettable. And it’s only the beginning.

How does the Saudi scene compare to racing abroad?

Other countries may have the legacy, but we have ambition and a vision. The blend of modern circuits with raw natural landscapes makes our scene something special.

How can people get involved in racing here?

Start with karting or local bike leagues. The entry points are growing, and if you’ve got the passion, there’s a path forward.

Where should a racing fan begin if they’re visiting Saudi Arabia?

Start in Jeddah during F1 season and stay tuned for Qiddiya. But don’t skip the local grassroots action, that’s where the soul of Saudi racing lives.

From street races to world-class circuits, Saudi Arabia’s motorsport future is roaring to life, and the Saudi Stig is firmly in the driver’s seat.
