Riyadh Marathon 2025: A Record-Breaking Race in the Heart of Saudi Arabia

Amid towering skyscrapers, green spaces, and mud-brick heritage, over 40,000 runners hit the streets for the 2025 Riyadh Marathon, marking the city’s growing reputation as a global sports hub. From sunrise warm-ups near Boulevard City to the dramatic finish at Kingdom Arena, what was once a local event has transformed into an international festival of endurance, culture, and community.

A Race to Remember

Elite athletes, weekend warriors, and casual joggers from across the world came together to tackle the full marathon (42.2 km), half marathon (21.1 km), a 10 km challenge, and a 4 km fun run. The scenic course weaved through some of Riyadh’s most iconic locations—Boulevard City, Wadi Hanifah, and the Kingdom Arena—lacing together the city’s modern vibe with its historic charm. In the men’s marathon, Kenya’s Emmanuel Kipchumba claimed victory with a blistering 2:08:32 finish, just ahead of Ethiopian stars Abe Gashahun and Abebaw Muniye. On the women’s side, Ethiopia’s Gudeta Kebede Nestanet dominated with a 2:27:24 finish, cementing her status as a force in distance running. Meanwhile, in the half marathon, Ethiopia’s Bereket Nega edged out competitors with a time of 1:02:28, while local Saudi runner Sara Yousef took the women’s title with an inspiring 1:54:58 finish.

But the race wasn’t all about the podium. Thousands of everyday runners proved that this race wasn’t just for the pros. From personal bests to first-time finishers, Riyadh’s streets were filled with stories of resilience, ambition, and community spirit.
